EAA Chapter 1027
Monthly Meeting:
Chapter meetings typically occur on the second Sunday of the month at the clubhouse at Willits Airport/Ells Field, at Boonville Airport or another announced location. Lunch, beverage and dessert are provided for a $7 donation to the chapter. All pilots of experimental and certified aircraft as well as people interested in aviation are welcome to attend!

HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT DISPLAYS
  Historical Aircraft on are display to the general public at these locations and times:
  • Willits Airport: Second Sunday of each month for EAA chapter meetings.
  • Ukiah Airport: The first consecutive Friday and Saturday of each month from 10AM to 2PM
  • Boonville Airport: Third Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (707) 895-2075 for information.
Experienced pilots and aircraft owners are available at these events to answer questions.

Ells Field, Willits CA (O28)
EAA 1027 CLUBHOUSE is located on Ells Field (028, CTAF 122.8, Rwy 34, R.H.) on the mountain two miles northwest of the City of Willits which is approx. 120 miles North of San Francisco on Hwy 101.  Runways are 16 (primary takeoff, downslope, left pattern) and 34 (primary landing, upslope, right pattern) with PAPI (5-clicks). 3rd Annual Boonville Salute to Veterans Fly-In

Sunday, November 9th

This is our time to honor all who have served , and are serving our country in military service with a fly-in demonstrating our support and appreciation for the freedom we enjoy, thanks to them. We encourage all pilots to put a vet on board your plane and fly them to this event so we can honor them.

We'll have a great burger barbecue with all the trimmings and dessert hosted by EAA Chapter 1027 and the Boonville wing of the Chapter 1027 with Cap'n Kirk Wilder and the Boonville group. We hope to see you all there , with a vet accompanying you if you can. The event is from 11AM to 3 PM. Boonville airport (D83) weather update the morning of the event will be available from Cap'n Kirk at 707-895-2949.







Skunk Train Fly-In

September 6th and 7th

Willits EAA Chapter 1027 is hosting the 2014 Skunk Train Fly-in at Willits. This is a historic train that departing from Willits and traveling to Northspur along the Noyo river in the heart of the Mendocino County redwood forest climbs the eastern slope of the California Coastal Range, cutting through it at tunnel number two, the summit, before descending into beautiful the Noyo River Canyon. This is the mountainous portion of the trip, descending 8.5 miles of switchbacks through the forest in one mile distance. While at Northspur you will be treated to a barbecue lunch fit for a king….and a lumberjack. After lunch and souvenir shopping at Northspur, the train returns to Willits, about a four hour round trip.

The train trip is Sunday morning, the 7th; those flying in Saturday evening will be provided charter bus transport to downtown Willits and the Best Western Willits Inn hotel, where discounted rooms have been reserved. Saturday night is a fun dinner party at Lumberjacks. Sunday morning charter bus transport from the hotel and the airport to the train depot will be provided, then transport back to the airport after the trip returns to Willits about 2:30 PM. Special discount package deal includes round trip Skunk Train tickets, Willits-Northspur-Willits, with barbecue lunch at Northspur, charter bus transport from Willits airport to downtown for flyers arriving Saturday evening, then to the train depot Sunday morning and for early Sunday fly-in arrivals, continental breakfast at the airport, then transport from the airport to the train depot with the group, then return to the airport. $99

3rd Annual International Wings and Wieners Fly-In

Willits EAA Chapter 1027 invites all to the 3rd Annual International Wings and Wieners Fly-in at Ukiah airport (UKI) on Sunday, July 13th from 11AM to 3PM. FREE FOOD! We'll be serving quality all beef hot dogs cooked to perfection by Willits EAA Chapter 1027 Executive Chef Jim Harden. Along with your tube steaks we'll be serving great potato salad and a cold beverage; all absolutely free! Cool, air conditioned seating in the admin building suitable for hangar flying will be available. Historical Aircraft certificates of display will be available for all for free. Come early, beat the rush!






The 4th Annual Boonville Spring Fly-In

It's time again for the popular Annual Boonville Spring Fly-In at Boonville airport, D83, to be held Sunday , April 13th, from 11AM to 3PM. Boonville airport manager and EAA member Capn' Kirk Wilder and the fantastic members of the Boonville wing of Willts EAA Chapter 1027 will be hosting the event.

Coming out of seasonal retirement is EAA 1027 Executive Chef Jim Harden, who will be manning the burger grill, promising that you can have your burger any way you want it, as long as it happens to be the way Jim cooks it.

We'll have a great burger lunch with all the trimmings, dessert, and a beverage for a donation of $7 serving at 12:30. The 50/50 cash raffle is back, and two winners will walk away with some cash in their pockets. We're looking forward to seeing you all again, as well as any guests you'd like to bring along.







Quality Sport Planes Spring Open Hangar and Fly-In.

Saturday, May 3rd, Doug and Lori Dugger, owners of Quality Sport Planes will be hosting this great event again at Cloverdale airport, O60. The Cloverdale Lions Club will also be returning offering a great barbecue lunch. The Santa Rosa Chapter EAA 124 will host a Young Eagles Rally at the event for the benefit of the kids, our future flyers. Theres a lot to see at this event, so come early. The 2014 Garberville Young Eagles Rally

This year Willits EAA Chapter 1027 is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring this year's Young Eagles Rally at Garberville airport, O16, on Saturday, May 17th, with sign ups beginning at 10:30 AM. This is such a great and worthwhile event for the kids and the future of aviation, as over 1.8 million Young Eagles have been flown by volunteer pilots all over the country. If you would like to be a Young Eagles pilot giving the kids a ride, or would like to help with ground support, contact Young Eagles Event Coordinator Fred Baron at twobarons@saber.netwww.youngeagles.org.
